First Haircut

We've been avoiding the inevitable because a haircut means that Brennon isn't a baby anymore! :o(

Friday was the day! We took him to Shear Madness for a very overpriced haircut, in hope that this first experience would be less traumatic if it was kid friendly. Brennon did great! He dove a little yellow Hummer and watched some Dora for the 3 minutes it took to trim his baby locks.

OBB

OBB (Operation Binky Breakup) was supposed to begin when we returned from Florida 2 weeks ago. However, I would be lying if I said that we haven't done it yet because I've been too scared! The red flag came when Brennon spent some time with his favorite babysitter, Mia, this week and managed to take 2 binkiless naps! Plus, someone turned 11 MONTHS OLD this week! :o)

Last night was OBB Night 1; I should have known that it was too good to be true when Brennon fell asleep in less than 10 minutes. I always go in and check on him before I go to bed, and when I did last night, he had a binky in his mouth! He was stashing it! So then I laughed, felt totally defeated, and went to bed myself. (Leave the binky, take the cannoli!) Then, when Justin went to get Brennon out of bed this morning, there were 2 binkys in his bed! So again, feeling totally defeated, Brennon has a binky for both naps today and we decided on a do-over tonight.

OBB Night 2; Brennon cried, and cried, and cried, and cried, and cried, and cried... and cried. After 2 hours and numerous attempts and negotiations, he got lucky because my mom showed up to drop off garage sale items. He took an additional 45 minutes to fall asleep while she loved him up. Here's the kicker... while talking to me on the phone a few minutes ago, she admitted that Brennon found ANOTHER BINKY IN HIS BED AND SHE DIDN'T TAKE IT AWAY!

Brennon 2- Mommy 0 and Gamma is OUT!

Days 6 & 7

Wednesday morning Justin, Steve and Greg went on a fishing charter out of Destin. They left bright and early, while Bridget, Brennon and I had some pool time. They caught several fish and a shark! Because we weren’t with them, I’ll have to borrow some pictures to add later. Later in the day, we also headed to Destin for some quick outlet mall shopping and dinner.
Day 7, Thursday, was our last day and we decided to spend our last day back at Pensacola Beach. White sand and cool water, life’s a beach!

Grandma's a beach bunny!

Grandpa said he was napping... we think he was beach babe watching! :o)

The Zoo & Gulf Shores

Bridget, Justin, Brennon and I headed out early for the Zoo, in hope to beat the heat. Although the Gulf Breeze Zoo is smaller than the Zoo in Kansas City, it’s much more kid friendly. Most of the animals are very tame and you can get close enough to feed them.

Birds

This was my favorite part, baby ostriches! There were at least 25 of them and they were SO tiny and cute!

That evening, we all ventured to Gulf Shores, Alabama and the Shrimp Basket. I didn’t take any pictures, but Gulf Shores is one of the most scenic places we visited and we saw a pirate!

Stinky Pete, the Pirate!

Day 4, Splish Splash!

Monday was our first day at Pensacola Beach, while Steve and Greg went fishing. We found a public access area close to a hotel with umbrella and chair rentals. Brennon really liked the beach and loves the water! For dinner, we went to Landry’s Seafood House, an excellent place and they’re a chain with the closest in Branson!

Isn't he so cute? Just crawling along, Lil' Man on a Mission!

Oh, of course... he's crawling towards the girl with no top on!

At Landry's
We swam in the pool at the house, almost every evening.

These are the ducks that live in the backyard and pool, literally!
