4 Month Check Up and Retraction!

All Brennon wants for Christmas are teeth. Not necessarily the front ones, just any tooth will do! Continue reading for further explanation…
Brennon went for his 4 month check up on Thursday, FINALLY! He weighs 17 pounds and is 26 inches long- both in the 90th percentile range. Dr. Grimes was pretty impressed with B developmentally. Technically at his age they are supposed to begin rolling and only in one direction. Brennon however, is ready to MOVE! He rolls both ways, on his own, all of the time and has for a couple of weeks now. He liked that Brennon had all varieties of cereal without adverse reactions and was pleased with the veggie verity as well. Dr. Grimes also confirmed for us that Brennon is definitely teething and said that he wouldn’t be surprised if one on the upper left cut through by Christmas. Leave it to my child to not only cut teeth early, but in a weird and random order. :o) Brennon got an oral vaccine as well as 2 more shots and didn’t even cry this time! (Thank goodness!)

Things on the home front have been pretty miserable the past week, thanks to the TEETHING MONSTER! A cranky, fussy, pukey, feverish, unpleasant mess to be quite honest. A couple of screaming-teething fits are comparable if not worse than the “colic days.” SO, in retraction of the last post, “A Baby Christmas List,” Brennon wants and NEEDS teeth for Christmas!

A Baby Christmas List

We'll start by saying that Brennon doesn't need anything. We are very blessed and our Little Man does not go without anything. (Anything he wants, anything Mommy wants and anything the Grandmas want!) However, everyone keeps asking, "what can we get Brennon for Christmas?" So, I've come up with a few ideas...

*Bibs, especially the wider ones made for eating foods
*Anything musical, he loves music and things that make sounds
*Stacking or sorting toys
*Anything having to do with shapes, colors, the alphabet or numbers
*BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS! I don't think a child can ever have too many books
*Clothing is really the last thing he needs, but I know it's fun to buy! :o) Size 12 months in shirts, one-piece outfits and body suits, 6-9 months in pants only

Brennon wears size 3 Huggies diapers and we prefer Huggies wipes as well. Brennon uses Similic Sensitive formula. NOT the Soy variety, the packages are almost identical.

Brennon is growing so fast and it's time for baby food! I decided about a month ago to try and make our own baby food. I was a little scared, but it's going very well and is SO easy! For about $5.00 I made acorn squash, sweet potatoes, carrots and green bean purees. Each puree made about 18-20 servings of each vegetable. Jar foods are SO expensive and although I'm not great at math, I'm pretty sure I saved us about $35-$40. We did already have a blender and a steamer- both are a must for making your own foods. I did have to buy 6 ice cube trays for about $2.

I've been using the site http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/ as a guide. This site takes you step-by-step in the food making process and outlines what foods are appropriate at what ages. It also has recipes for mixing foods when babies are older.
